The SMC, which was also known as Student Mobe, began in 1966 as a group arranging campus protests against the war but grew to one of the largest and longest active national anti-Vietnam war organizations with 15 campus organizations nationwide.
It also welcomed all anti-war activists, regardless of their ideology or political leanings. The organization began disbanding in 1973 in conjunction with U.S. troops withdrawing from Vietnam.
